Nigeria: Sarah Jibril Urges Leaders-to Protect Women

Leaders at all levels have been urged to accord proper value to women and save the womenfolk from ill treatment, abuse and being made refugees in the face of societal conflicts.
Special Adviser to the President on Ethics and Values Mrs. Sarah Jibril gave this charge during the inauguration of board of trustees of Ethics, Values and Mentorship in Abuja.
She attributed the problems being faced by women to the nonchalant attitude of political leaders.
"When and how will the religious leaders who pray for politicians become courageous enough to counsel, rebuke soundly, so that politicians, CEOs, bankers, professionals, etc will adhere to the laws and rules of good leadership and governance with the fear of God?," she asked.
Chairman of the newly inaugurated board, Professor Tony Ogiamien noted that with the introduction of ethics into the social-political fabric of the nation, "we have reaffirmed our collective resolve to advance the cause of accountability and transparency on global scale."
